Handspun Wirecore & More! Virtual Edition with Tip of the Mitt Fiber Fair!
In conjunction with Tip of the Mitt Fiber Fair - A virtual spinning class!
This exploratory, all levels workshop takes students from learning the basics of spinning around a fine wire core to utilizing the same techniques to experiment with core materials that have similar properties. In addition to spooled jewelry wire, students will have the opportunity to spin around battery operated LED strands and fabric covered floral wire. An emphasis will be placed on how to adjust your wheel for these unusual yarns and how to prepare various core materials for spinning. Valuable tips and tricks to avoid over twisting and wire breakage will be covered for all core materials with suggestions for how to use their finished “yarns.” A supply list will be provided upon registration via email along with a password protected Zoom meeting link to attend class from 1-4PM on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Enrolled students will receive virtual handouts and have exclusive access to a replay of our class session.
Please select "Class Fee Only" if you plan to gather your own materials, a list with resources will be emailed to you upon registration and is also listed below. ***Please note, the deadline for the supply kit option ($50 vs. $30) has passed. A listing for a supply kit should you choose to order one will be up in the shop on Monday, June 1, but I cannot guarantee you will receive it in time for the class.
